1970 Nebraska Cornhuskers
Short Sleeve T-Shirt

Going into the bowl season in 1970, the only blemish on Nebraska's record was a 21-21 tie with USC in the second game of the season. They then went on to win 10 straight after week two. At the end of the regular season, the Associated Press had ranked them third behind Texas (10-0) and Ohio State (9-0). United Press International, still taking its final vote before the bowl games, prematurely named the Longhorns as national champs. On 1/1/1971 both the Texas Longhorns and the Buckeyes of Ohio State lost, giving the Huskers a chance to take it all with a win over LSU in the Orange Bowl. The Cornhuskers posted an early 10-0 lead, they relinquished the lead in the third quarter, but came back to win in the fourth, 17-12.
