Bobby Ross' 1990 Georgia Tech football team were tied once but never beaten. They were named UPI's national champ by the slimmest of margins (847-846). The Buffaloes from Colorado (11-1-1) were voted No. 1 by AP's panel of broadcasters and sportswriters. Georgia Tech, despite the championship controversy, went on to beat Nebraska by a score of 45-21 in the Citrus Bowl to keep their title dreams alive.
