Coach Johnny Majors led Pitt to a 11-0 regular season record, and an impressive 27-3 victory over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, securing their first national championship since 1937. It was the first time a team had won the Heisman trophy, the AFCA Coach of the Year award, and the AP top 20 in a single season. |
